Carol City, FL is a large suburb of Miami Gardens, FL. The average population in Carol City was approximately sixty thousand in the 2020 census. It was previously a census-designated area. Carol City is located on the western edge of Miami Gardens, FL. Carol City was founded as an island community of eleven miles by the Chattahoochee River in 1855. The residents of the island were mostly freed slaves who came from Georgia and Tennessee. Carol City has a long history of African American civil rights activism dating back to the Civil War.
